This
is a supportive and educational support program developed to meet the
specific needs of individuals parenting adolescents.
This program includes family therapy for adolescents and their
parents, a combination of workshops and groups tailored to address the
concerns of those parenting adolescents, and parent coaching and consultation
services.
The
Parenting Support Program currently includes the following groups and
workshops:
OLDER
ADULTS RAISING ADOLESCENTS
A
support group designed to address the unique demands of older adults
raising teens. In addition to support, this group will provide
information and understanding. Issues
addressed will include limits and consequences, age appropriate
freedoms, effective communication, and cooperation and problem
solving.
PARENTING
SUPPORT FOR PARENTS OF ADOLESCENTS
An eight-session program
designed to address the current concerns of parents, as well as
address many anticipated issues parents of teens typically struggle,
such as computer/internet safety, drug/alcohol use, and peer and
dating relationships.
PARENT
TRAINING PROGRAMS
Parent training workshops
provided quarterly for parents of teenagers. Training is presented
in two three hour sessions over the course of two Saturdays. Certificates
of completion are presented to those individuals who complete both training sessions.
